Community Testimonials

Greg Ambler was started skiing at the Gwynne hill when he was two-years-old. He later joined the board at 16-years of age and took on various roles and responsibilities during the seasonal operations. He grew up hearing the dreams about making snow on the local hill and the perceived financial hurdle that would forever keep it from being a reality for such a tiny ski club.

In time, Greg found used oilfield equipment that had been building ice roads in Northern Alberta and the Club purchased the equipment for $27,000. On Dec. 18, 2022 years of impossible dreams became reality as they made snow on the hill for the first time.

Greg was instrumental in the revival of Gwynne School as the Gwynne Valley Rural Academy, taking on many of the physical jobs around the school grounds and building interior and exterior.

Tribute Reflection

"Gwynne Legacy provided us with a beautiful way to honor my father's memory. The tribute not only celebrated his life but also supported a local charity that he cherished. It was a touching experience that brought our community together, and we are thankful for their dedication to keeping his legacy alive."
